RESPECT BEGINS WITH APPRECIATING THE PEOPLE WHO INSPIRE US
The 7th-grade students at Kings Kids School began their IMYC (International Middle Years Curriculum) topic “Respect” with an engaging Entry Point activity called “The Person I Respect.”As part of the activity, students chose a person who holds a special place in their lives and whom they deeply respect. They then introduced their chosen person to the class and shared their thoughts and personal experiences by exploring questions such as:
-Who is this person to you?
- Why do you respect them?
-What have you learned from them?
-How have they influenced your life?
-What message of appreciation, gratitude, or respect would you like to share with them?
Through listening to one another’s stories, students discovered that respect is much more than simply understanding the meaning of a word. It is about recognizing and appreciating qualities such as love, kindness, wisdom, hard work, courage, understanding, and support in the people who positively influence our lives.
